Driving after 70.

How would you feel about re-sitting your driving test after 70? We have to renew our licences every 3 years, but what if we had to take a test again as well. Do you think you would pass?

I've just been reading about Sheila Hancock, 82, being at the centre of a 'age storm' over her car insurers almost trebling her insurance simply because of her age.
She has been driving for 63 years, never once had an accident through her own fault, and is also a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists.

Yesterday, Age UK urged car insurers to stop using age as an excuse to ramp up premiums. They say: "Unjustified age discrimination is illegal in most other parts of life, and it should be illegal in insurance and financial services too."

There are currently more than a million drivers over the age of 80 - nice little earner for the insurance companies isn't it.

Well I never ! I'm shocked by this, especially in the case of Sheila who has such a good record.
I think a test for over 80s would be a good idea though, although Sheila wouldn't need one ..................

I'd never pass my test again! Years ago it was much easier but it's become quite difficult these days and as one ages the brain cells often diminish.

I can't even remember the stopping distances and don't get me on to reverse parking into a tight space!

I've two uncles in their 70's who drive but they still have all their faculties about them. I've seen one or two drivers who look decrepit and have very slow reflexes. An accident waiting to happen.
