Low Pay

Its all very well for the Government to introduce the 'National Minimum Wage' and increase its value from the previous NMW, but if there is no-one to 'police' it, many employees will be robbed of their 'rights'.

Re: Low Pay

Indeed my husbands company do a naughty trick whereby they pay a 4 weekly wage at NMW rates which assumes a 40 hour week, then they set targets that mean the drivers are doing more like 50-60 hours a week so the rate of pay is far below NMW.

There is enforcement

https://www.gov.uk/government/public...nimum-wage-law

I have no time at all for employers who do not pay.

Your husband should visit the CAB-that must be against the Employment Laws.

Not if he wants to keep his and all the other people employed there their jobs. When he started no NMW his wages seemed fair it was only when NMW came in and the race to the bottom began it got bad, employers having to undercut rivals etc. I am not even sure it is against employment law, the company is a stickler for the rules and laws in everything else so I doubt they would break it like that.

Re: Low Pay

After the way the public sector workers were vilified for protesting about the changes in their terms & conditions. Is it any wonder that employers know there will be no concerted action.
