Re: Dog Insurance
I would say the best person to ask is your vet deylon.
I say that because they are the ones who have to fill in the paperwork for claims, and they know the ones who are difficult to deal with, and those that pay up promptly.
My vet said a long time ago, that his practice had no end of problems with the supermarkets insurances. Also, don't forget the Kennel Club do insurance as well as other companies.
Personally, I think it is much the same as any insurance we feel obliged to take out in the way of you can pay a small fortune and never have to claim, or your dog can develop an expensive health problem and you will be grateful you are covered.
I stopped insuring mine a long time ago because every single thing I needed the vet for, the insurers told me I wasn't covered for. I seemed to forever paying the insurers and still paying the vet on top. Maybe if I had paid a lot more I would have had more cover, but it cost more than I could afford for several dogs.
I was very annoyed one time, because one of my Shepherds got a grass seed go deep into her ear and she had to be anaesthasised her to remove it. The insurance company then put a clause on her insurance that if my Dotty had any more ear problems over the next 12 months, they wouldn't pay out.
I told them she hadn't got long term 'ear problems', it was a one-off accident, but they wouldn't listen.
In the end I decided I'd had enough, and the money I was paying them each month, I would save up in a separate "dog account" instead, which is what I have done ever since.
Another thing I don't like is when your dog is getting old (they used to consider that at only 8 years old), they don't want to help any more. They will insure you while your dog is young, fit and healthy, but after their 8th birthday it was a different kettle of fish altogether.
I may be giving you wrong information, this was a long time ago now, and
no doubt others will tell you how wonderful it all is - but it didn't work for me.
Last thing, there is a very good man called Neil Flint at:

It could well be worth you having a look at his website.
