Nom. Can I ask you 2 questions please.

1. Are male and female Magpies marked the same?

2. Do Red Kites only fed on carrion, or do they take live critters too?

Thankyou.

Longdogs, I only had my eyes tested last Wednesday, but I can't see those birds Nom posted either, so don't worry.

Red Kites do eat live prey worms and beetles, and small mammals but their talons are too weak to attack larger prey.

As for Magpies some say the white patch on the nape of the neck is larger in a male, but im not too sure about that.

ah, thanks. So I guess with the Magpie's any difference is subtle and not very obvious.
I just wondered because I have a big one at my bird table as we speak, it comes every day, but I didn't know if it was male or female.
