Wanton Destruction.

A couple of posts by other members got me thinking about what goes through the minds of those that destroy things just for the sake of it. I of often see bus shelter windows smashed in,

Is it more prevalent now. ?

No, I think it's always been fun for some morons to destroy things. My husband said when he was a child in the early 50s his pals found an abandoned car. All he wanted to do was try and get it going again. The others jumped all over it, smashed the windows, ripped the tyres and destroyed what was left. Some people are just twisted and violent. Teddy boys were the same.

I think there is less vandalism now, and what there is has become more arty, guess the potential vandals just can't be bothered.

What about the destruction of whole towns and cities, including the people living in them.

I think a lot of people are unhappy these days and add to that humanity is barely skin deep, just watch a riot develop from nothing it rather explains why some people find destroying things is fun.

I think wanton destruction is more prevalent now, maybe because too many parents are 'otherwise occupied' to teach their children you don't touch that which does not belong to you.

There is also wanton destruction in the countryside, I watched in horror as the local farmer lopped off small trees and hedgerows that gave food and shelter to birds , small mammals and his own sheep.

I think some of it is jealousy based. They see something they like but can't have, so they destroy it so others can't enjoy it.

I think that's true Tessa and of course it's not only teenagers that do it. Adults often smash and destroy property that does not belong to them ie: protest marches and riots.
