No more crispy Roast Potatoes!!
So there we have it. We have officially been informed by the Food Watchdogs that we must no longer cook our Roast Potatoes to "crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside" because if we do, we are at risk of contacting Cancer! also, on no account must we have our slices of Toast brown or well done or the same will befall us! this also applies to saute, fried potatoes or chips!In fact, your toast must be just off white and your roasties, chips fried potatoes just past the blanched stage to enable you to stay within the safe guide limit!
What morons! instead of dictating such rubbish, they would do better to sticking with sensible advice for people to eat more veg and less red meat instead of dictating how we must eat our Roasties.
Begone with you ! these were the same people who years ago demonised butter that put millions off eating it (not me!!) and now have backtracked on the claims that it is bad for you!! mrgreen:

I heard this this morning and it made me smile-maybe a sardonic smile. Pharmacology subsid over 40 years ago-over cooking can lead to changes in the structure of proteins etc.And if we stuff enough of whatever into a mouse or rat it may get cancer.

It's been known for over 40 years that burnt foods are carcinogenic in large quantities, so nothing new here but if you look at the tests they gave vast quantities to mice, now a we are not mice and b we are hardly going to eat three times our own weights in burnt foods unless we are very bad cooks !23-01-2017, 01:50 PM
