Do any of us oldies still buy Valentine Cards for our spouses/partners?

Do you mark the day with a special treat or anything, or does the 14th just come and go like any other day?

I always buy red roses for my wife's grave if that's what you mean.

We don't buy Valentine cards but Mr Mags always buys me flowers on the day.

I actually got a valentines card last year from one of my clients , a lovely chap but he's just not for me , I thanked him and said I wasn't looking for a relationship and he understood . We are nice friends though and occasionally go out for lunch .

When I was married in the early years my husband sent me a dozen red roses at work , lovely surprise but I was shocked when I found out they cost £50 .

That was a lot of money a few years ago susan.
They don't half hike the prices on Valentines day and Mothers day, don't they.

I know this sounds awful to say but I was quietly annoyed at the time as we did not have a lot of cash to spare and all I could think of what other more important things the money could have been spent on . I never said anything though as I know he would have been upset .......as it turns out 16 years later it was a waste of money ! ( smiles at the memories )

I bought my hubbys card a week ago but no pressie yet.. He doesn't really bother but always gives in, in the end and buys me something with a card
