Do You Say "Off Of" Rather Than Just "Off"?

As in "the ball bounced off of the post".

In England it seems just the chavvy types that say "off of" but in the USA they all seem to be at it (even the educated ones).

But what about YOU?

No I don't

However a lot of the pupils at work will name celebrities and add "off of...(add name of film/programme) but they don't use it in any other context, which is strange.
