Quartet

Has anyone seen this charming film? Caught it (late) last night - for the second time. What a cast. Maggie Smith, Tom Courtenay, Pauline Collins, Billy Connolly, Sheridan Smith and other faces I knew.

Think I'll have to invest in the DVD.

Re: Quartet

Maggie Smith actually made two films named "Quartet"

One in 1081 - which was seriously weird - and this lovely little gem from 2012. I really love this film - it has such gentle comedy. Maggie is brilliant, of course, and she has such a wonderful supporting cast - Pauline Collins, Tom Courtney, Andrew Sachs, Billy Connolly etc., The only weak link is the plank known as Michael Gambon but he can safely be ignored. It is a 'feel good' film and i watch the DVD quite often.

Re: Quartet

This film is an example of why I love British films, a good storyline, no explosions, no special effects. the actors are the ones who carry the film not the CGI..

Re: Quartet

I saved this on my Humax some time ago and have watched it a couple of times since - it is one of the rare things that are timeless and so watchable. I just love the whole cast the way they fitted together. Will watch again I am sure.
