Regulatory Alingment

Hi

The new Red Line for the Diehard Brexiteers.

No more following EU Standards, we develop our own.

They simply do not understand how things work.

International Trade is based on equivalent standards, written into any Trade Deal.

If we wish to Trade, we will have to have them.

Things as different as car tyres and household irons have to be made to certain standards.

This makes sense, otherwise we would be flooded out by cheap, unsafe goods underselling our own manufactured goods.

It is no great shakes.

Having been part of the EU for 40 years, we have EU Standards which are recognised throughout the world.

Very simple, basic things, insulation on electrical wires, flameproofing on kids clothes, just common sense.

There is absolutely no sense in very expensively reinventing the wheel.

The big problem is agricultural produce.

The EU is opposed to GM Products and hormones and antibiotics in food stuffs.

The USA is insisting that we accept them as part of any Trade Deal with them.

If they arrive in the UK, they cannot be separated and the EU will ban trade in our Agricultural Products.

This would have serious issues for our Agricultural and Food Exports to the EU.

We will have to decide which is the most important.

I do not want trashy usa GM products, nor hormonal and antibiotic additives in my food. Why cannot we do something completely radical ... and GROW OUR OWN !!

What the whole point is they are all afraid of not trading with us as we are a large market area. That is why all these conditions are put in our way.

Hi

Who is running scared of who?

We will have to use International Standards to trade with whoever when we leave.

The EU are certainly not running scared of the UK.

We are the one's desperately asking for a Transition Period.

They will still be trading with us on WTO Rules after Brexit.

WTO Rules do not include Services, which are 75% of our exports to the EU.

They will simply take them off us and take the Tax Revenue from them.

Will this usa rubbish be labelled? If so - we could vote with our feet and just leave it on the shelves.

There's the rub Tabby. In the USA, which is totally corrupt and where the massive conglomerates and manufacturers rule the politicians, they abuse the labelling laws. So GM foods I don't think need to be labelled as such in some parts.

Once GM foods start coming in I wouldn't personally trust the powers that be to protect the populous with labelling laws. Those laws are already crooked and allow all manner of nasty chemicals and ingredients to go into food.

We ARE all going to have to grow our own if we want to be sure of providence unless you live near to or know a good reputable farmer.

Monsanto are the villains changing the food chain imo. Not good.
