It's a bit cold in Russia .....

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-42701715

Russian winters are famously freezing, but this week the cold in Yakutia, in the far east, dipped below -60C (-76F).

Russian children are usually kept indoors and schools are shut when the cold plunges below -50C.
No mollycoddling for Russian kiddywinkies .....

Re: It's a bit cold in Russia .....

I notice consistently that my two Russian-born, young adult children seem to suffer from the cold less than I do. They are more inclined to complain (to me ) about their discomforts in general, but when it's extraordinarily cold, I am the one wearing every article of clothing I own and whining like a fussy toddler (well, not really, but for the sake of making my point ...).

Equally acclimatized and with about the same ratio of body fat, we theorize that there is probably some gene responsible for their putting more energy into heat production.

That said, I noticed in Russia that even in the orphanages, the material used in coats, hats, and gloves seemed to be of superior quality compared to ours.

Coldest temps I experienced were 30+ days of -60F or -51C.

Not doing that again.

I also suspect that this will be an eyelash fashon trend sooner or later.

Remarkable shot!

Have been there, done that and have the 'T' shirt to prove it. When I was in Siberia, evening temperatures were down to minus 47 o C but then adding wind chill to that, I was walking around in equivalent temperatures of minus 60 oC.

The woman in the photograph is stupid, she should have protected her eyes behind a mask, since ice can seriously damage the eyes.
