Traffic disruption, closed roads and rats

Woking is really going through it at the moment, couple of years ago a huge building project was started no one consulted residents about it so most people are pretty fed up. We've had road closures, and traffic jams and now horror of rats everywhere. I don't know what they uncovered about three months ago but several shops have been closed and I wouldn't advise anyone to eat from takeaways or food outlets in the town centre area.

It's a nightmare, coming out of work last night I saw about half a dozen just walking down the high street bold as you like !

We've been advised to open the bins where I work with a stick and stand well back, something I didn't need telling twice after my rat bite few years ago. Also can't block the back door open anymore in case they come in, so have to take bins out then walk right around the block to go in front entrance and that was pleasant in the lovely evening sun last night bug has been wet and horrible last week or so.

All asking is it worth it just for a councils vanity project

Sorry for the moan but it feels better getting it out

Re: Traffic disruption, closed roads and rats

Hi

Prior to the Privatisation of the Water Companies, who are also responsible for for the Sewers, every Local Authority had a duty to poison rats in the sewers and drains.

This was removed when the Water Companies were privatised, the assumption being that they would do it themselves.

They have chosen not to.

But of course we wouldn't have any old common rats in Surrey

Re: Traffic disruption, closed roads and rats

With some councils opting to collect rubbish every three to four weeks, rats are inevitable.

Re: Traffic disruption, closed roads and rats

I haven't seen any rats here... yet, but closed roads and disruptions are all over the place now.

I'd like to think that they're filling in potholes, knowing how prevalent they are today and how they feature in the press every day. However, I have a sneaking suspicion that it is more likely to be services digging more holes in the roads!

Ours is skyscrapers going up, pot holes are not high priority but offices are apparently. Odd because we already have an over capacity of office space already.
