Rail re-nationalisation

Seems the scumbag 'nasty party's' Tansport Secretary is about to announce the re-nationalisation of the East Coast line.

I bet such announcement is going to stick in his craw!!!

The railway should be a public service .

Hi

I agree.

The problem was the Unions and their restrictive practices.

Dinosaurs with no concept of Public Service.

In other Countries Unions work with Management to provide a Service.

It works well for both sides.

We are unique in having Unions who resist all change, and that is our big problem.

I agree and hope that nationalization may stabilize the prices so the public can afford to use the service again. You need a second or even third mortgage to travel anywhere by rail these days!

You can say that again.
It costs a fortune to travel by train unless you book it months ahead .
The death of spontaneity in travel .

Think the East coast trains have been taking over by the Government because they could not make a profit.

So to your way of thinking the rest of us can pay with are taxes so you get cheap rail fare

But a public service should be a public service not necessarily to make a profit veryone pays with taxes to get the benefit of public transport .
Rail travel is not so expensive in Europe or almost any other country as it is in the uk.

Absolutely!!! - but then Galty drives everywhere, so he pays twice or three times over, once through his Income Tax, twice through his National Insurance and possibly thrice through the petrol tax he pays - didn't we do well???
