Hi Di Hi

It's my latest guilty pleasure, watching this on Freeview drama Channel 20. I can remember when it came out for the first time in the 80's, that I wasn't too enthralled with it. Now, for me it's quite funny, and poignant, as quite a few of the cast are dead, or of a certain age. Thank goodness Holiday Camps are a bit more luxurious these days!

One of my all time favourite comedies.

I've got the complete boxed set.

Re: Hi Di Hi

We used to find it mildly amusing, but on watching some of the repeats, now think it is rather daft.

Simon Cadell, Dongles. I have recently been watching him as a totally repulsive SS Officer in "Enemy at the Door". It is hard to believe it is the same person - which shows what a good actor he was! His sister, Selina Cadell, turns up in all sorts of programmes.

Humour changes as time goes on. With all the pc brigade around now, humour is very one sided unfortunately.

I still watch Fools and horses and the good life and still find them funny, also ever decreasing circles which I think is a bit underated. Don't know why but I never liked the likely lads.

Re: Hi Di Hi

I never liked Hi-de-Hi - apart from Jeffrey Fairbrother (Simon Cadell), the characters were, IMO, unremittingly repellent (and some of the actors, who played the characters, were, too) .....

Of all the James Perry/David Croft BBC sitcoms, Hi-De-Hi (1980–1988) and You Rang M'Lord? (1988–1993) were the ones I hated and Dad's Army (1968–1977) and It Ain't Half Hot Mum (1974–1981) were the ones I loved .....
