Three lions on a shirt -the song.

It was mentioned in yesterday's paper that this is one of those songs that stay in your head all day once you have heard it. So, I was thinking of other songs that might do that and one of them was 'Merry Christmas everybody' by Slade.

If you listen to the bass in both choruses, it is very similar. I wonder if that has anything to do with it?

Sorry, I'm just thinking out loud here but I'm sure a few of our resident musicians/ music lovers might get what I am on about.

Hmmm I've never really thought of a connection there, Longdogs. Both very catchy though, but hopefully we'll win tonight and sing the right song

Imagine all the fans singing Merry Christmas by mistake.

Re: Three lions on a shirt -the song.

And for those of you not too sure of the lyrics

So you are ready to sing along with millions of others

( just change it to 50 years of hurt )

It's coming home, it's coming home, it's coming, Football's coming home (repeat five times)

Everyone seems to know the score. They've seen it all before,

They just know, they're so sure, that England's gonna throw it away,

Gonna blow it away, but I know they can play, 'cause I remember...

Three Lions on a shirt, Jules Rimet still gleaming, thirty years of hurt, never stopped me dreaming.

So many jokes, so many sneers, but all those oh-so-nears. Wear you down, through the years,

But I still see that tackle by Moore and when Lineker scored, Bobby belting the ball and Nobby Dancing!

Three Lions on a shirt, Jules Rimet still gleaming, thirty years of hurt, never stopped me dreaming.

Commentary - England have done it, in the last minute of extra time.

Commentary - What a save, good old England, England who couldn't play football, England have got it in the bag.

I know that was then, but it could be again. It's coming home, it's coming home, it's coming, Football's coming home,

It's coming home, it's coming home, it's coming, Football's coming home...

It's coming home, it's coming home, it's coming, Football's coming home...

It's coming home, it's coming home, it's coming, Football's coming home...

Three Lions on a shirt, Jules Rimet still gleaming, thirty years of hurt, never stopped me dreaming.

Thanks for reminding me Missy. I heard that song early this morning and I am still humming it.

Actually...

(derailing my own thread here)

I have always wondered how football crowds all manage to start a chant at the same time. How do they know it's about to start? Does someone count them in?
