Over50s Forum

I was born, many many years ago, in a small country town in east Lancashire. Enjoyed junior school there then went to grammar school in the next town and hated it. Met my wife when we were both 18 and enjoyed 43 years of happy married life until she died in 2012. We have 1 son and 1 daughter. I studied accountancy and had several jobs in banking and corporate finance until I retired in 2011. My work took me round the country and we lived in Lancashire, Cumbria, Essex and London before coming to West Yorkshire in 1990, where I still live.

My Interests

I enjoy cooking, reading, listening to music (particularly 1960s music and jazz), theatre, dining out and travel. Since my wife died my son persuaded me to start seeing more of the world which I now do and plan to do much more.

I am learning to play the saxophone which is great fun and which will be better still when I have mastered the art of reading music.

I enjoy watching football. My son and I were season ticket holders at Blackburn Rovers for many years until the club was bought by a family of chicken farmers who appeared to have no sporting interest in the club, merely financial. Consequently, we transferred our support up the road and now follow Preston North End (Home of the late Sir Tom Finney).

I have joined the Over50s forum where I hope to make new friends and have lots of interesting chats and banter.
