The same situation as with films of Charles Dickens' books. Most of the films were great but, IMO, not as good as the books.

No. I will probably delete it. It is total fantasy like an early Stephen King novel that I enjoyed before I grew up. ;-)

I don't agree. A film can't capture and relate the essence of a book that takes maybe 12 hours to read. A film is like an abridged book and it doesn't tell the whole story in depth.

The book "Twelve Years a Slave" was written in the 1850s and in the language/style of that time. Some people might find it hard to adapt to that style of prose.

Just watched the film. What a disappointment after reading the book. If you haven't read the book then I advise you to. The film doesn't illustrate his despair nor depicts 12 years of slavery.
