No I have not read any of those books. Agree with you about the films adapted from the books, never come up to expectations, but if I watch the film I don't read the book.

Meg, thanks for your input, I do have porridge every day. Yes, I will start using herbs to replace salt in my cooking and hope that after a while I won't miss the salt, just need to keep an eye open...
