Disability living allowance.

Firstly I must make this clear that I'm not against all that I am writing about. I just find it doesn't have a purpose.

A friend of mine is receiving disability living allowance due to bad Arthritis in her knees. Not only is she getting this allowance, but is getting a big reduced sum in her Council Tax.
I just wonder what this does to help with her problem.

Re: Disability living allowance.

Does she have to get cabs to get out ?
She will probably need some help in the future too ?
I spend a fortune on aids to find some help for meself, such as a comfortable mattress which took 5 attempts to find .......
Having a disability is costly as they charge you over the hilt for aids .......
Its not always as cut and dry as it appears to an outsider .....

Re: Disability living allowance.

My niece got it when she was alive too, it helped her buy a car (small second hand one) and helped pay for her driving lessons. Before she could drive it paid for her specialised bicycle too which if she had to find the money for it she would never have afforded. Able bodied she could have walked to work really but it was impossible with her foot so they helped her with transport is how I saw it.

Re: Disability living allowance.

Maursey is the reduction in her council tax single occupancy allowance or a different beneficial allowance?

Mum gets extras ... It helps her pay for extra heating, cabs because she cannot use public transport, aids.. a cushion for her wheelchair was nearly 50 quid!!!

There are a lot of extra expenses in being disabled.
