Your thread on the Pleiades looks very interesting and I will read through it properly when I get a bit of time. I have always enjoyed looking at The Pleiades even before I knew what it was. It looks amazing through a telescope or bins as does Orion but sadly I don't have anything powerful enough to see the Horsehead Nebula properly.

I suppose that's my point really Julie. I can remember being taught about Prime Numbers and also the Fibonacci sequence at school but I don't remember using them in every day life.
There is a lot of stuff we all come out of school with never to be used again, I'm not sure it wouldn't be better to drop some and teach a more practical course so we can all calculate carpets and curtains, or all garden and fix our cars etc.
