Have you tried clarified butter? You might prefer the taste.Re: I know i'm an oddball.......
I forgot to add, butter is very good for you. It contains butyric acid, and is one of the best dietary sources of it. Butyric acid is a short-chain fatty acid, which is a powerful immune factor and excellent for gut health.Re: I know i'm an oddball.......
Re: I know i'm an oddball.......
When my son was born he was rushed off to an isolation hospital in Sheffield at just 1 day old, complete with flashing lights ambulance and police escort. It transpired that he was born without the enzyme that deals with lactose. He was put on a food called Velactin, which was vile, it looked and smelt like water that potatoes had boiled into. For the next two years it was in and out of Sheffield childrens hospital, he couldnīt have milk or anything that contained milk. It got better as he got older and now, like me, the worst it does is cause bloating and upset stomach if too much food containing lactose is eaten or drunk. In my case I dislike butter and margarine and never put either on my toast or sandwich, the only milk I use is fully skimmed and that only on cereals or for cooking. If, as I do on occasion, have a little cream or ice cream it is only when in quick and easy reach of a toilet, believe me it really does work that fast. However this past couple of years our supermarkets have a really good range of lactose free milk, cheese and other products. The only cream I ever buy is Elm Lea which is none dairy and for me it is wonderful.Thread Tools | |
