I am banjaxed - but happy!
That nice Mr Sainsbury delivered half a ton - well, a lot anyway - of beautiful fresh vegs yestermorn - and I had done a raid on the butchers later in the day. Which means - I have spent today - all day - apart from a couple tea breaks - playing in the kitchen!
Have made:-
3 x portions of Hunters Chicken.
1 x Chicken/mushroom casserole
3 x portions of Chilli Con Carne.
3 x portions of Spaghetti Bolognese
8 x Beef and Sweet Pepper burgers
12 x Venison and garlic sausages
1 x Gallon Leek and Potato (and garlic) soup.
Have blanched, vacuum packed and frozen:-
1 x kilo Carrots
2 x kilos Broccoli
1 x extremely large Cauliflower
2 x kilos Mushrooms
6 x Capsicums
4 x Sweet Peppers
2 x kilos Courgettes
1 x kilo sliced onions
Cooked a Gammon joint - sliced and vacuum packed about half of it - kept the rest in the refrigerator for salads/sandwiches etc.,
God bless whoever invented the home Vacuum Packing machine - it means things can be kept for longer - no risk of freezer burn - and the pouches take up less space than containers.
Going to have a very large Gin and Tonic - might have a early night and listen to Martin Shaw reading 'The Hobbit'.
OOooh - might need a cold shower to go with that!
