Re: Here Come the Remainers Again
From the EU’s point of view there is not much to renegoatiate here, pacta sunt servanda.
Some people may remember that not so long ago Boris Johnson the great magician, a self-appointed master of the deal, celebrated the outcome of his negotiations with the EU from which Britain will prosper mightily as a great success and presented his triumph to the legislature.
The nationalist European Research Group (ERG) declared the agreement to be UK "sovereignty-compliant" following scrutiny from its lawyers. Tory MPs and most of Her Majesty’s offical opposition happily fell into line behind Prime Minister Boris Johnson. After a debate of just five hours the 1200+ page legislation duly sailed through the House of Commons and the House of Lords before being given Royal Assent.
MPs not only allowed this procedure to take place but humiliated themselves to be part of this unprecedented farcical scramble - an absolute travesty of parliamentary democracy. A dereliction of duty the results of which will haunt the country for many years, especially those who will have to live with the consequences.
The knowledge that your signature, unless you can later claim insanity, makes a contract valid and cannot be altered unilaterally isn’t new and certainly isn’t rocket science – come to think of it maybe an admission of insanity might be a loophole Johnson can try.
