Zimmer frames
Seeing Zimmer frames mentioned on another thread here, not to highjack it I thought Ii would give my experience with having (nearly) and (just about) using one.
When I was recovering in hospital after my operation and being laid up for four weeks in the ward I had lost almost half my weight and had very little strength. Not even enough to manage to sit up without help.
As I started to slowly recover I was urged by the nurses to get up and move about. Great I thought but a little support would not go amiss. So I asked for a zimmer frame and told there wasn't one available. Funny that as one was being used to keep the ward door open but I wasn't allowed to use that. Oh no they fetched one for somewhere else.
So for the next few days there I was charging up and down the corridor outside the wards at a grand speed even a snail could have passed me by.
Ok got home and then received 2 zimmer frames, one for upstairs and one for down stairs which by this time I was just managing to get about without one.
I have to add as a foot note the zimmer frame I used in hospital was a godsend, that is when i eventually had the strength to get out of the hospital bed.
So as you may or may not know it was touch and go at one stage if I lived and Sue was warned to expect the worst.
