Beekeeping

Anyone ever done or interested in bee keeping?

I read this earlier and I thought it would be nice to have some organic, pure, Raw honey

Re: Beekeeping

Not a chance here! OH runs a mile if he sees a bee or wasp and would think nothing of leaving me at its mercy

Is this what you're thinking of planning for your plot Azz?

Lol @ Pixie!

Berxer - Yes, I thought it would make good use of the space, help the local farmers and do something for bees - as well as make some honey for us

Funny thing is when I see a wasp or a bee I run for miles

Yes, as long as one doesn't creep down the back of your neck!

Seriously, I'm sure you'll be safe. It's just the thought of all those bees in one place makes me shudder.

Re: Beekeeping

My ex husband used to keep bees and one year he brought a frame into the house from one of his hives, I forget what for. He put the frame into our spare bedroom, I went in there to get something a short time later, opened the door and was quite literally met with bees everywhere, the walls were black with them, I slammed the door shut and literally ran. I went to stay with my mother until all the bees were got rid of. I can't recall if it was a queen grub in the frame or honey but those bees found that frame in double quick time. To this day I'm not sure how they were disposed of but I know I was sweeping up dead bees for ages afterwards.

We also once came back off holiday to find our lounge full of dead bees. The neighbours told us that a swarm had settled on the house wall and they had to call out the Council, who had to call out a bee keeper to come and get rid of them. However many of them must have found their way indoors somehow, the windowsill was inches deep in dead bees.

So, if you are thinking of keeping bees, the very best of luck to you.
