Funerals
Bit of a downer sorry.
We've put money aside for our funerals and have looked around at prepaid plans etc. Nothing comes in below £3000 each until we noticed a service most funeral directors offer but don't advertise. It's hard to even get them to talk about them !
At less than a £1000 sometimes as cheap as £330 depending on your area and cost of burial or cremation plots.
It's called a direct funeral.
The only down side is you don't get to attend the service.
The funeral is done privately but with respect. A few weeks later you get to collect the ashes and can then have whatever service you wish as a rememberance and at a cost you can afford.
We are seriously thinking about it as we aren't sentimental after a person dies, being at the funeral isn't what matters to us a party and disposal of ashes later is always the focal point of our way we grieve. Celebrate the life lived with a party for them, then scatter ashes somewhere they loved in life.
I know this won't be of interest to many but if like us you really don't mind not having that traditional service if it means a saving of well over £2000 on each of us, it might just help you find a deal you can live with.
