It can take years to become good at macro (micro). Maybe forget the photo angle and talk about the weather or something. Just think, you can look back on it in 50 years time and say this is what I did summer of 21 when we narrowly survived the end of the world.

What about a before and after shot, to make it more interesting. You snap your lunch just before you eat it, and then again the day after, or whenever.

I think there's a 40mm, 60mm, 105mm and more ..
Things you have to ask yourself:
Will you want to use it for more general picture taking as well?
Do you need auto focus (lots of people prefer to focus macro manually)?
Will you be focus stacking?
Have you got tripod & lights? (cheap LED torch can be effective)?
