Reading this thread has reminded me - No, not to replace the batteries, but to replace (with new ones) our non-exsistant smoke alarms...The ones that I took down and threw away,several years ago when we decorated and we never replaced them......

Funny you should say that, Tess, this is the second one to go during the night.
They are pre programmed to beep during the night cos if they beeped during the daytime the chances are you may be out and wouldn't know the battery was low. ( Not really!) Most alarms have a "test" button. It pays to give it a push now and then just to make sure its ok. Be ready for the noise tho' cos its ear splitting.
