I knew I should have stayed in bed!
Walked up to Sainsbury's at first light - needed some tinned stuff, catfood, and some Kerrygold - saw the price of Kerrygold and left. Walked the extra 1/4 mile to Asda. Bought Kerrygold there 35p cheaper than Sainsbury's. Also bought three ink cartridges for the printer. Asda are currently selling them at £8 each - as opposed to £12.99p in other places.
Coming out of Asda slipped on some black ice and skinned my right knee. Didn't realise how bad it was until I had walked a bit further and felt the blood tricking down my leg.
Went into Boot's to seek help. With knee suitably cleaned and dressed, I bought some lint, micropore tape and a bottle of TCP. Was about to leave when the 'shoplifter' alarm went off. Was pounced on by a security person and asked to empty my shopping bag. Did so - showed my receipt. Many apologies - was allowed to leave - but - alarm went off again. They searched my pockets, they searched my shopping trolley, they searched my Asda shopping and - bingo - one of the three ink cartridges still had it's security tag attached!! Showed them that receipt as proof that I had paid for all three - and was allowed to leave.
Now why had that not triggered the alarm at Asda??
Definitely fed up by this time - I went back to Sainsbury's to buy my tinned stuff and cat food. Bought a huge packet of Mussels as well to cheer myself up. Fat chance - cashier put everything through her scanner thingy - asked for my nectar card - it wouldn't work. I said forget it who needs nectar points any way - went to use my debit card to pay - wouldn't work. Her computerised pay thing had 'gone down' and needed rebooting, She escorted me to the Customer Services desk to pay there - theirs had gone down as well!! Had to leave CS guarding my shopping while I went to the cashpoint so I could pay with actual money!
Came home to cross cats - I had not put the heating on before I went out - and was soundly rebuked for my failure as Cat Staff. Might have been sacked had I not waved a packet of Dreamies at them!
What a morning!!
