It is quite a sad point of view Cassie, a little cynical as well. Of course, the people participating would not have been co-erced. However, I don't think a Channel 4 programme like the one I suspect this one may be is the best platform for hoping viewers will appreciate and go on to understand the problems some people face just trying to live their lives, I don't think the programme is designed to be in their best interest, although they will be on TV for a little while. I believe it is the viewing figures which motivate the makers of this programme and others like it. I doubt it is an informative documentary programme on the nature of the medical conditions the participants are coping with. As I said, I am cynical, but I hope the programme proves me wrong. Tourette's syndrome is quite a disabling condition and I was not simply labelling people or using the term disabled in any derogatory way. If there is a more suitable generalist word which will cover a variety of conditions that impose challenges and potential limitations on people's lives I will gladly use it.
