Tea Bags

I've just about come to the end of my tether with the tea bags I use. Mine are from M&S. Lately, I've noticed a dusty old film round in the teapot, a bitter taste of the tea, and even with a strainer, bits floating here and there. Apparently these are called fannings or dust, what is left after all the good leaves from the bushes are processed, and put into tea bags. So one has ordered a diffuser from E-Bay, with a view to using a good quality loose tea to try to get a decent cuppa. I've even bought a new teapot! Anyone else suffering!??

Not me, I have never stop using loose tea and have a selection of teapots and strainers for every occasion even when travelling.

I have never believed teabags could make a decent cup of tea (perhaps because the water cools too quickly?) so never use them even more so since the teabags are now lined with plastic so they can be heat sealed.

Re: Tea Bags

My Aldi English Breakfast Tea bags make an excellent cup of tea and with no scum. 75p for a box of fifty, can't beat them.

Re: Tea Bags

I'm not a big tea drinker but wasn't there something to be said for allowing a patina to build up within the pot?
It was supposed to impart more flavour to the brew I think.

My Nan used to make tea with condensed milk...I didn't think twice about drinking it at the time, although Carnation isn't on my list of store cupboard essentials today.
Happy memories though!

Loose Tea for this household. (although always have a spare 240 packet of teabags in the cupboard, just in case, always used before use by date.

We are Yorkshire Tea drinkers. Yorkshire Gold for the loose, Yorkshire Premium for the teabags. BY GOOM, A RIGHT NICE CUPPA!
(Don't shoot me please Judd! ) lol.

Re: Tea Bags

The standard Yorkshire Teabags for me too, they make a good, strong cuppa. Those for hard water areas are better but are seldom found in the shops, although this is a hard water area.

There was a lady from Yorkshire at my seniors club who swore by Yorkshire tea, I felt a bit mean pointing out to her that it had never been near Yorkshire as it was grown in Sri Lanka and packaged in UAE

She bought Nerada tea after that.
