So, in other words - nothing will really happen or it could get tied up in litigation for a prolonged period...

Who wants to bet that Trump will pardon himself and his family next?

What did Donald Trump actually say ?

Does anyone have the text where asked his voters for insurrection, riots and invading the Capitol Building ?

Bread, her are some of the quotes that the House claimed instigated the riot: https://apnews.com/article/fact-chec...6e108e653ed08d

You will have to go back to the transcript and some those of the others.

It is really important do understand abroad that an impeachment is like a grand jury. It is a statement that there is enough evidence for a trial.

Minx, it could take a while, but that is how due process works here. The President, like any accused, has a right to face his accusers and defend himself - which means he has to be given time to build his case. Even if the Senate decided not to try, the President has a right to demand a trial, if he chooses to do so.

If the resolution is sent today, the procedures leading to the trial could begin as soon as th 21st.

By the way, the President finally spoke last night. It was a calm, cogent speech demanding denouncing the violent insurgents as not his followers, and demanding a peace during the inauguration.

I was after the actual transcript of what he said because to my knowledge he never said these things (although Guiliani may have).

Also there was no constitutional hearing regarding his impeachment and no evidence on both sides given, the while thing was wrapped up in 8 hours where it took 21 days in the courts the first time around and about 30 days to impeachment Clinton. This is the Democrats and in particular Nancy Pelosi who bypassed the whole impeachment process because she and her socialist mates already decided he was guilty of something he didn't actually say or do.

And yet I still see no evidence coming forward on here either of what he actually said when he is accused of calling for insurrection and riots. To me knowledge he actually said "peaceful protests by our party and behave like patriots" (more or less).

If he did say these things it would be on a media loop 24/7, but strangely it isn't... probably because he didn't actually say the things he has been impeached for.

Bread, the transcript and video of the speech is all over the internet. You are welcome to do the search as you will be most satisfied with your own findings.

Perhaps you are confusing the impeachment with the Senate trial. The impeachment, like a grand jury, does not include include submissions by the potentially accused. It is only a determination of whether or not there is enough evidence to accuse someone with a crime and to proceed with a trial. The Constitution does not explicitly require a formal hearing prior to impeachment in the House. All hearings and the trial itself do not take place until a resolution of impeachment is sent to the Senate.

I've looked all over the Internet and I can't find them. I was hoping someone could provide a link.

Re: Trump supporters stormed Capital Hill

Hi

I have worked with the Americans for many years.

I find the Republican/Democrat system weird.

They are however fierce supporters of Democracy and they will sort Trump.

They will simply not allow a coup to take place.

They are fiercly defensive of the voting system.

I have never understood their fixations on guns, in the same way that they have never understood our security people not carrying guns routinely.

When push comes to shove they always do the right thing and Trump and CO will get sorted.

Calm and cogent, but not sincere. His speech writer did well, let's hope the inauguration goes ahead without incident.
