Hi

The current threshold is £425,000 per person, so a married couple can leave £850,000.

These figures mean that in many areas of the UK average house prices are such that IT will not be payable.

House prices are governed by area, not solely employment. Muddy.

My kids had their money early on, straight after Uni, so in their 20's, not their 60's.

Stamp Duty at 5% is a lot less than the 40% IT rate.

Downsizing does not mean a shoe box, unless of course you choose to live somewhere posh.

I pay all the tax I am legally obliged to pay, not a penny more or a penny less.

You are quite correct about my daughter and her attitude to money.

Edited to add nursing home fees are around a £1000 ( not £100) a week.
