Good Morning everyone.
It is a beautiful day today.
I'm looking forward to my break in Bulgaria, only two days to go, and we fly.
Not with flying monkeys I might add.

Answer

Monkeys is the only way to make the noun monkey plural.

Confusion arises because some people mistakenly believe that all nouns ending in "y" should form a plural ending in "ies". When a noun ends with [vowel] + y, you only need to add an "s" to form the plural.

Re: Leisurely Scribbles (part 5)

The Complete Plain Words, titled simply Plain Words in its 2014 revision, is a style guide written by Sir Ernest Gowers, published in 1954. It has never been out of print. It comprises expanded and revised versions of two pamphlets that he wrote at the request of HM Treasury, Plain Words (1948) and ABC of Plain Words (1951). The aim of the book is to help officials in their use of English as a tool of their trade. To keep the work relevant for readers in subsequent decades it has been revised by Sir Bruce Fraser in 1973, by Sidney Greenbaum and Janet Whitcut in 1986, and by the original author's great-granddaughter Rebecca Gowers in 2014.

Ah that’s great Silver, Irish history was one of my favourite subjects at school, 1912-1928, interesting period, you may get a few surprises, there’s stuff in there that folks in Britain were never told about. I know you’re never done learning so enjoy the course, and who knows we might get an Irish historical novel out of you yet.

My eldest grandson is in his second year at Trinity, a quiet spoken well mannered lad, I think he’s doing engineering or something to do with engineering.

Remember old Dr.Moreau from HG.Wells, a man before his time with a great imagination, what I'd give to have a few pints with that fella, Wells that is, not the mad Dr.
