Re: Why are we afraid of writing a WILL

If it as it seems is so complicated, and could cause hassle to relatives, I don't think I will die.

I am no more afraid of making a will than i was of purchasing funeral bonds.

Best to plan ahead as it's too late when you've gone.

I'm going to write my will when I'm 55 I think.
Trouble is I have no money and no possessions so it may be a little empty.

Re: Why are we afraid of writing a WILL

Well, today the man from the Will company called. An hour and half later I was £1,100 poorer!

The Will itself was £110, and I had the cash for that, but after he told me of their other service I thought 'Well, no brainer, really!' That extra (£995) covers:

Lifetime membership

Storage of the Will and any other document

Unlimited retrieval of documents

Unlimited adjustments/amendments to the Will (would normally cost £135 each time). My niece, for example, rents a property and that is the address going on the Will. In 12-18 months time she may return to her own address, for her daughter to apply for secondary school. Normally, that would incur a charge to change it.

Provision and support through Probate (basically they help the Executors all the way through, without the need to go to solicitors, saving that cost)

Provision and support for two other Wills for Probate. So for example if my younger sister made a Will, she could take that service, and not incur any extra charge, and any one else in the family could too.

Had to make an immediate transfer from savings account to cover the debit card transaction. Have phoned sister (Executor) and brother, and explained a lot about it.

All done. Just got to get the document back, sign it and send it back to them.
