Ah,the tricks memory plays,yes,annoying indeed.For instance;
1/remembering you've forgotten something,but not knowing what.
2/repeating yourself
3/standing in a room trying to remember what you came in for
4/putting the toilet roll down and leaving the room
5/regretting that action almost instantly
6/repeating yourself
7/having to say "you weren't born'' when people ask who Hot Chocolate were
8/your bathroom mirror saying 'Eww!' when you look into it 1st thing in the a.m.
9/I can't remember number 9.
10/trying not to repeat yourself

Memory can be a puzzling and sometimes thing, at least for me.I'm in my seventies so some loss of memory might be expected. I do have the lapse that has been mentioned here - walk from one room to another and forget why.
But longer term things just seem to stick in my brain. Particularly numbers and technical things. I can remember the the registration number of every vehicle my parents and all that I have. Phone numbers...scientific and mathematical formulae. Conversion factors and stuff.
It is a double edged sword. At work, people leaned on me for these things rather than look them up.
