He was a leader but he was not infallible.
There were plenty who agreed why did'nt they press the doubtful questions at the time?
It gets me how many refuse to believe Sadam and his cousin Chemical Ali were the biggest WMD's in Iraq, some showing almost remorse for the murdering bastard.

Re: Chilcot Report

Tony Blair will forever be judged for the Iraq war but he did some good things too now forgotten in the national sport of Tony Blair baiting:-

Introduction of the National Minimum Wage
Increase in police numbers of over 14,000 in England and Wales and overall crime fell by 32 per cent.
Record levels of literacy and numeracy in schools.
Funding for every pupil in England doubled over Blair’s tenure.
Employment increased to record levels by the time Blair left power
Up to 100 per cent of debt owed by poorest countries was written off.
The NHS employed 85,000 more nurses and 32,000 more doctors.
Power was devolved to Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Paternity leave was introduced for the first time.
Restored city-wide government to London.
Record number of students in higher education.
Created the Equality and Human Rights Commission.
Pensioner poverty was dramatically reduced with initiatives such as the winter fuel allowance and free public transport.
Over 36,000 more teachers in England and 274,000 more support staff and teaching assistants were employed.
All full time workers were given the right to 24 days paid holiday.
600,000 children were lifted out of relative poverty.
Child tax credits introduced giving more money to parents.
Section 28 was scrapped and Civil Partnerships introduced.
Fox hunting banned.
Fur farming and the testing of cosmetics on animals as banned.
Cleanest rivers, beaches, drinking water and air since before the industrial revolution.
Free breast cancer screening for all women aged between 50-70.
Overseas aid budget more than doubled in real terms.
Long-term youth unemployment fell by 75 per cent.
Free nursery places for every three and four-year-olds was introduced.

Had he not gone into Irag he would have been feted by history for these achievements

I can see what you're driving at Muddy, but I'm not so sure all on the list were positive achievements.

Yes Muddy, Blair could certainly spend, both the golden inheritance from the conservatives in 1997 and then by continual borrowing and selling of the family silver, which is one of the reasons we are still in such bad shape now 8 years after their recession. Our local hospital, along with many other hospitals and schools barely have enough day to day cash to continue running thanks to the repayments on the disastrous PFI contracts negotiated by the incompetent Blair government and which our grandchildren will still be paying for when we are long gone. Anyone can spend on tick, that takes no skill or acumen whatever, and in Blair and Brown's case it was more of a process to secure votes to secure their power base than for the good of society, hence the uncontrolled immigration allowed by Blair and his cohorts. He ran his whole term in power as a Blair vanity project, he is, in fact, an egotistical narcissistic meglomaniac, and they are just his good points...

Perfectly true. It is a well-known fact that Labour is a 'borrow - spend, borrow - spend, borrow - spend' party. Then there was the infamous Gordon Brown attempt at economic revival: sell off all our gold reserves at a knock-down price.

I can only assume that their support coming almost entirely from trade unions, they haven't the faintest idea of economics!
