So from your post you mention that the OLD air is discharged
some how? I assume a seperate discharge fan is used for this, or
is it sucked out by the engines and dicharged through the exhausts?
And how does the system tell what is old or new and how does it
seperate them ??
I am not convinvced about these claims for the efficacy of the
systems!!

Because the aircraft is pressurised at around 8000 feet once the thing goes higher the external low pressure draws air from it. Like it's said, nature abhores a Hoover so no fan, just a valve controlled by pressure differential between inside pressure and outside pressure.

How is fresh and stale air separated? Distribution inside the cabin is such that air is ducted from above the passengers and extracted from beneath them and then fed through the air conditioner that includes the filters, mixed with fresh air, then back to the cabin from which a quantity is discharged in order to achieve the total replacement in circa 2 mins requirement.

Thanks for your patience Todgy, l hope it lasts?
I have another question l'm afraid?
Do they have more than one relief valve to let the excess pressure
out of the aircraft?
And regarding the top to bottom flow of the incoming air, do they have
suction grids or some such to facillitate this proceedure??
Thats all for now but l have many more queries?

I would imagine that being a critical component there would be at least duplication and possibly triplication. As for suction grids on the cabin exhaust suction once again I would have thought that some form of protection would be included.
