I'm not sure we need to import minimum wage employees unless you want people like my husband and I on the dole. It's been increasingly hard to find the sort of jobs we normally do for ages, we have plenty of people here can do the jobs if they were available to us.Re: The Polish and Others are leaving.
A nurse on the radio today said she had worked for the NHS in, I believe, intensive care but at £15 an hour, this was not enough for her to support herself and her child.Re: The Polish and Others are leaving.

How on earth has it ever come about that we are so dependent on overseas Doctors in the first place? Could it possibly be that although it costs the British taxpayer £230,000 for every junior Doctor to complete his/her training, the moment they pass those exams, they are free to stick two fingers up to the taxpayer and sod off to countries paying much more than the NHS. Why on earth didn’t any government have the balls to say: “The taxpayers paid for your training, in return, you must work for the NHS for a minimum of 5 years before taking up a position overseas”Re: The Polish and Others are leaving.

Has anyone completed an audit of the number of medical staff needed to treat immigrants over the last generation or so? Is it hypothetically possible that, had the UK not had so many people coming to these shores then maybe the NHS might not have had to import medics to treat the increased number of ill people created?
