It was one thing to keep France under the jackboot. Apart from a few resistance fighters, the vast majority of them submitted easily and, in addition, the Vichy 'government' very happily allied themselves with Hitler.
But that's the French for you.
If Hitler's 'Reich' had been allowed to extend a great deal further, I'm sure that he would have found it very difficult to keep control of everyone, especially the British and the Russians.
There were only a limited number of SS and Gestapo.

But the implosion of Nazism would have taken place in about five years. Nazism was very much less popular than the USSR.
