Made a mistake today - forgot to take meat from freezer last night (its now defrosting nicely ready for tomorrow) so had 'bangers, mash and peas. The man from Sainsburys' having delivered my bottle of Port, I can now use some of it for the marinade tomorrow. Meat is to be Blesbok - will let everyone know what I think of it tomorrow.Re: What are you having for lunch/dinner?
Ok folks, have started the Blesbok casserole. Marinaded the meat in 1/2Pt Port, drained and tossed in plain flour, chopped an onion and a few chestnut mushrooms and fried them till they softened, added the meat into the frying pan and fried for a few minutes, scooped out band placed in slow cooker, added the veg to the frying pan (carrot, parsnip, leek, celeriac, and a few (frozen) mixed peppers) and fried for a few minutes. Placed a heaped teaspoon of bisto powder and an oxo cube to the marinade and poured that over the veg. As it started to heat and thicken, poured all the ingredients over the meat in the slow cooker and switched on. The smell in my kitchen at the moment is gorgeous!!!!
