Bruce, you need a good quality one....the cheap ones can give false impressions of distance between objects.

In my case that doesn't matter, I am quite happy to reverse using wing mirrors but to hitch a trailer or a caravan without guidance I only need to be able to see where the hitch is in relation to the ball.

I only need it for this specific purpose.

That's what I meant......you may think youre near enough to the ball when in actual fact you are not.....so you may end up getting in andbout of your vehicle. ....defeating the object.

So looks like no-one has fitted one yet, but presumably you would still have to hard wire each end for a power feed even if the sender and receiver are wireless?

Yep but it is a moot point now; I went out and bought a Gator 4.3 Wired reversing camera this morning for $125 (£60) from Supercheap Auto. Both ends still need wiring - the camera to your reversing lights though in my case I will use the trailer socket.
