That could be asked of all of us but then of course the powers that be could do anything with no one opposing them.

Long live BM I say willing to put his head above the parapet and say this is wrong.

bit of a red herring wot - who ever said BM was more important than anyone else - he certainly didn't but yes - he is entitled to express his opinion as we all are.

this issue is NOT about BM or rock and roll music it's about the ill-treatment of animals

let's try and stay on the straight and narrow here !

Gummy - well said. That's the first sensible thing you've said all morning.

There is no justification what so ever for this total disrepect of life and cruelty to animals.

I will not live to see the day, but,as one who has been there, and seen cruelty in my callow youth. One day 99% of all animal experimentation will be seen as pointless-and some distance away none will be needed,

I hope you're right OG, but as you say, it probably won't be in our lifetime.

Trials using humans are fine - once things have got past a certain point.
To get to that point, what alternative do you really suggest ?

It's the Beagles suffering here, and we don't eat Beagles in this country!
I thought any animal suffering would be a concern.

Are you absolutely certain that every lamb or chicken or pig destined for your plate
has been raised in idyllic conditions, fed its preferred diet of natural tucker, not loaded up with hormones or antibiotics, transported in comfort and despatched absolutely painlessly ..... ?
Then you're right - there is no relevance to animal testing.

BUT, are you really that sure?

Or are you saying that animal suffering is OK if we simply eat the buggers
but not if they are a means of saving human lives ?

I'm a veggie have been for many many years but have no problem with animals being killed humanely for use as food, we are not however talking about an animal that anyone will eat this is purely sickeningly for pleasure. If they were going to eat it then fine but do it with no fuss and no "fun" show the animal a little respect as it will be feeding you.
