Re: Flyboard
It's a pretty specialised bit of kit at the moment. To ride it you apparently need to log about 100 hours of practice on the prototype which uses water jets rather than this which uses kerosene jets. Then you need a further 20 hours practice with the real thing.
It would be hard to believe that the military does not already have this kind of tech nailed. I mean we were looking at James Bond with jet packs back in the 60s/70s so stands to reason proper jet packs have long since been developed.
However what would be the application?
You are limited to the amount of kerosene you can carry in your backpack and really if the engines fail you are going to hit the ground hard and get badly injured.
The guy (Franky Zapata) generally flies over water for safety and he plans to break the 3 mile distance milestone and then wants to get up high, into the clouds, which of course will require a parachute etc.
All good fun but struggling to see the market application.
Military already have drones galore so can't see them being interested.
Still, looks a lot of fun . . . . until of course your crash into hard ground !
