But with respect, JBR, I suspect you might be underestimating the technical challenges.
We can visit a pile of web-sites about this.
Those from the nuclear industry tend to minimize the problems.
Way-out greenies will paint pictures of inevitable doom and gloom.
Common ground seems to exist that even in the most ideal conditions imaginable, a half-life of at least 200,000 years is a minimum. Some types of waste -
many times that.
Simply chucking the stuff down a 'mine shaft' when you consider all the geological and other possible events which could occur in that time span ........ ?
Apparently,
billions of dollars in preparation alone needs to be spent -
and then, scour the planet for a place least likely to experience change.
And then, convince the 'locals' to approve it.
