I'm not keen on Americanisms.
I have a friend who says 'gotten' I think it makes her sound silly and pretentious.
I haven't told her!!!
Also have you noticed if someone asks "How are you?", the response seems to be not "I'm fine thanks", or "I'm very well thanks", but "I'm good" !!!

Yes I have noticed that ..."gotten" is a horrible word to say ..that is unless youre an American lol

I say I'm going to the cinema, or going to see a film.
I'm afraid I've got into the bad habit of saying I'm good, when asked, though it's mostly if someone texts me the question. When asked in the flesh, I always say I'm fine.
I hate the word gotten too. Though I've never heard it said, only read it in books.
I find myself muttering when I hear a word I think is mispronounced, and then think, Gawd you're getting just like your mother.

Cannot see the point really when you can see them at home and not have to pay for refreshments or get thrown out for snogging in the back row!!!!! Down here in Devon we called them the Pictures.
