Disagree, If you don't know what other countries are paying, how can you know if it is a rip off or a global crisis?.

Point is I don't really care which it is, if I can't afford to put my heating on only thing I worry about is finding the money to do so, when I find I am not alone I then worry about others. Looking at the profit these companies make my heart somehow fails to bleed for them too.

If you don't know the source, how can you apportion blame, it is good to know WHO hammered the last nail into your coffin.

But no matter what the problem they could take less profit and allow hard working customers a little relief. So in my eyes the companies and the government could do something to alleviate the troubles some customers are having.

Up until now ...energy companies gave you a little amount off your next bill ..if you paid promptly...that has now been stopped

That's right, I remember that too Lavander, it used to be offerred as an incentive to cough up early didn't it, and you're right - it's been stopped.

I don't think it matters much SF whether its a global crises or not, if we can't afford it - we can't afford it. Knowing whether its global or not doesn't make it any easier to pay does it.

I was surprised to hear on Question Time that our fuel (for heating) is cheaper than anywhere in Europe! Not sure what the average income is there though and that wasn't mentioned.
