Re: Bus Lanes

I just avoid them seems easier really. It's cycle lanes I have problems with they've made them so wide then crisscrossed them over the pavements making it a danger to walk anywhere !

Re: Bus Lanes

Stick a TAXI sign on top of your car and not worry about bus lanes

Re: Bus Lanes

I never bother to look at the times; I just don't use bus lanes. It's not worth the hassle. If councils want to effectively reduce roads to single lanes they can put up with the pollution created by traffic hold ups.

Apart from anything else, it has been shown that bus lanes are counter-productive.

The evidence is there. Some time ago, Liverpool removed all bus lanes including their signage and road markings. They then discovered that the traffic flow, including busses, moved much more smoothly.

Other councils are either too stupid to learn from Liverpool's example, or they feel that they are benefiting from the inevitable fines that they regularly accrue.

Re: Bus Lanes

Last week I had an ambulance trying to overtake me on the outside and a bus lane on the inside. As I had not noticed the times (I just keep out of them), I decided not to move over which the ambulance driver was not too pleased about but I wasn't prepared to get a fine. I checked on the way back and found that I could have moved into it.

Perhaps a lit sign would be better than a printed one. A green light when you can enter and a red light when you can't.

I think that getting rid of the bloody bus lanes would be better.

Why didn't the ambulance go in the bus lane?

No I don't, despite having a bus pass.
