We have got quite a few ants in the flat and weedy area I call the lawn.

Just found this Mart, does it help or hinder, the open bill could suggest maybe cooling behaviour.

Perhaps they need (or like) do the parasite bit but then find they get too hot and cool off by panting with their beaks open. Both magpies have flown away now. One flew up on the trellis and stood there for a while with its wings open.

There are so many beautiful birds. I wonder how many species there are. I guess I should google it.

Wow, there are between 9,000 - 10,000. That is a lot of species.

Wow, there are between 9,000 - 10,000. That is a lot of species.
They are still finding new species, i think this lady still holds the record for most species seen.

I had a woody in the garden doing it last week. There is a pond and a bird bath to drink from. I didn't get a pic of it unfortunately.

ps. I Googled birds sunbathing and ended up very happy.

Thank you for the link Nom

I just read it, this lady Phoebe Snetsinger, found over 8,000 spiecies and travelled the world to find them.
And she isn't finished yet. She is 87 years old, can you believe it and she looks about 65.
