I find put the oven on low and put yeast based cakes and breads on a chair in front of the open door seems to work well, just have to make sure the kitchen door is shut here or Mollie helps herself !
My oven switches off when I open the door or I would have given that a try!
Cup cakes are American sugary topped over decorated monstrosities our English fairly cakes are small delicate sponges with little decorations. Cupcakes are not and can never be fairy cakes unless they are for enormous fairy elephants
Sorry Audrey they are just one import too far for this traditional English cake maker.

My 'instant gratification' bake is always sultana scones. from weighing first ingredient to eating finished product? 20 mins tops. Have been known to make them at midnight if the fancy has struck.
